How to Get What You Want in Life.
My son, 15 years old, spent 3 weeks in Australia for the very first time, on a summer camp (Summer in Vietnam/Winter in Australia). The main reason for the summer camp was to learn and improve your English speaking capabilities.
Steven already has a very good command of the English language so our reason to send him was primarily to learn and enjoy an overseas experience and a different culture from what he is accustomed to.
One night steven texted me to say he lost one of his cordless earphones.
He was upset, he was not happy. He told me he would just mope around for the rest of the evening.
We chattered for a few minutes agreeing that it wasn’t fair, it shouldn’t have happened, and it was ok to mope around for a while. Once we agreed on the downside of losing one of his earphones, I asked him a question.
What is the solution?
“No solution”, came straight back at me.
So I started to list a few possibilities with him to generate ideas and possible solutions.
- Look around the house? – No, lost it outside while traveling on public transport. I’ll never find it outside as I traveled into the city and back.
- Buy a new pair of earphones? No, I have no more budget left and they cost $70 Australian dollars.
- Buy half an earphone? No, you can’t do that as they are paired.
- Ask if one of your friends has a spare set? No, these are really good ones, and I like using these.
We covered a few more options but they were all received with an outstanding NO.
Ok Steven, tell me, what’s the solution?
There is always a solution to every problem. It may not be the solution we are thinking about, but there is a solution.
Steven replies, “I want a pair of earphones exactly the same”.
Ok great, I said. I’m looking forward to hearing all about your solution. Now you have 2 days before your return and bring home the pair of earphones.
We talked about holding firm in his mind, the idea of coming up with the right solution. Having faith (believing without seeing) that the universe was on his side and holding strong to the vision of what he wanted, the end result.
We finished the conversion and said goodbye.
Once I was off the phone, I pictured in my imagination, Steven coming up with the perfect solution to his earphone challenge. I visualized in my mind’s eye everything working out perfectly well, as Steven wanted it to.
The following day I received a text from Steven, I FOUND IT!
He was so happy that he found it. Where was it, I asked? It was on the grass near the bus stop, he said.
Then Steven sent the next message.
“ I almost gave up too:))))”
Never Give Up On What You Want In Life
Never give up on what you want in life. In many cases, we are so close to having a breakthrough in achieving what we want in our life. Many of my clients (Testimonials) have their biggest breakthroughs when they decide not to give up.
The universe is testing our faith, resolve, persistence, our perseverance in holding the crystal clear image in our mind (our imagination) of exactly what we want, until it shows up in our reality.
Steven learned a great lesson that day about the power of his mind, his imagination, his faith, his belief, and his persistence, which all contributed to Steven learning how to get what you want in life. In his case, it was his earphones.
Now you too know, how to get what you want in life.
