Identity is Creating Your Life Experiences
How changing your identity will change your life experience
I love Hollywood and some of the wonderful movies that have been produced over the years. We all have different tastes and leanings to what we think is a great movie. So I won’t mention any specific productions here as my favorites.
The most famous actors and actresses who have won various best actor or actress awards have done a sterling job in their performances. They have really embodied the identity of the person they were playing.
The best actors and actresses have completely personified the character they were playing. This is great if you are not married, and you fall in love while acting together. (40 celebrities who fell in love while acting together)
On the other side of the coin if you personify the identity of a role that is negative and harmful it can have devastating effects. Was this the case with Heath Ledger, the famous Australian actor who passed away at the very young age of 28?
Heath Ledger played the role of the Joker in Dark Night— someone who Ledger described as “a psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy” — could be draining for him.
Heath Ledger completely personified every character that he played, hence his great success.
Making things even more stressful, Ledger had developed an intense process to get into the mindset of the villainous Joker. “I sat around in a hotel room in London for about a month, locked myself away, formed a little diary, and experimented with voices,” Ledger explained in another interview.
Acting yourself into a new reality.
One of the quickest ways to change your reality (what your experiencing) is to change your identity (who you are). Our identity is made up of our personality, mindset, values, beliefs, experiences, environments.
We can learn from Hollywood and create our own positive identity that will allow us to live a wonderful and abundant-filled life.
You have heard the saying before, “We need to BE before we can HAVE”, that’s IDENTITY. Once we become it’s easier and more natural to have.
There is a difference between BEING (identity) a millionaire and HAVING million dollars. If a millionaire lost his/her millions, they could quickly reproduce it but not the same in most cases for a millionaire lottery winner who loses all their lottery millions.
Identity is part of the Logical Levels of Change:
The fastest way to change your reality is to work on your identity.
The logical levels of change are:
Purpose
Identity
Values & Beliefs
Skills & Capabilities
Behavior
Environment
Know your purpose. Know what you want in the different areas of your life. Then start to create the identity to produce and bring alive your purpose. To speed up the process we continue to work down through the other 4 logical levels of change until we arrive at and are living on purpose.
Using these logical levels of change is the most powerful way I know to create lasting positive change in people’s lives.
It’s important to note when using the logical levels of change we want to work from the top — down, and NOT from the bottom — up. Once you get started you can work on many different levels all at the same time which will create your new reality/purpose/goal, much quicker than you can have imagined.
Wrapping Up
Choose a worthwhile purpose that will benefit not just you but all humanity, even if it’s just one person at a time. Then get to work on your IDENTITY, becoming that person.
