My Relationship With Sugar

My Relationship With Sugar

My relationship with sugar. A while ago, my sister Carmel told me that “You have to change your relationship with Sugar, Paul”. At first, I thought she was talking about somebody. I didn’t have a girlfriend named Sugar. What the heck is she talking about?

Then, I slowly realized that she was talking about Sugar, the food.  She was so funny to tell me that I have a relationship with Sugar. How can I have a relationship with Sugar! She was crazy to say such a thing to me.

Do you think human beings, like us, can have a relationship with something like Sugar?

I’m not sure about you, but somehow my sister was right when she mentioned that I should change my relationship with Sugar.

I’m going to tell you a big secret, about me, and I want this secret to be kept on the lines of this page. I have been in love with sugar for a long, long time, so long I can’t even remember how far back it goes, maybe when I was 3 years old! Sometimes I daydream especially around 2 o clock in the afternoon, I dream about gobbling down a lovely cold Snickers Bar,  ice cream from Ben and Jerry, or Baskin Robbins .. it’s just so yummy and all my memories about my times of childhood bubble up in my conscious mind….

I dream about the big piece of cheesecake with cream, strawberries, and chocolate on top after the meal. Oh, I am so happy to just have these simple pleasures in life.

After school, 1st thing was when I got home I would race to the Fridge and look for something sweet. Life was like a paradise.

And when I go shopping 9 times out of 10 I put something sweet in my shopping trolley and what comes to mind right now is a pack of 12 donuts. If you visit my home, you will definitely find chocolate, sweets and something crunchy ..  and you should come to visit me someday … I’ll have something that you would love.

I can remember just a few years ago when I was 5, ok many years ago, and dad had a small business and he was also selling chocolates. One room in the house was stacked to the roof with boxes of chocolates. This was like the Christmas Room to me. Imagine like any normal kid, what do you think I did? … yes, I played the game of taking only 1 chocolate from each box, who’s going to miss just one chocolate? Well……you know what happens when the chocolates were delivered to customers, …Poof!!  no more chocolates for me from this Christmas room.

Why do I have this relationship with Sugar?  It’s not hard to figure out. Sugar really gives us a lot of energy; brings us many memories, good connections, and feelings.

When we are hungry, it means our sugar levels are down, we can’t concentrate, where tired, we can’t do things, and in some cases, people have been known to faint.

What makes food so delicious? I suspect sugar must play a big part. Nowadays, if we have to eat some food without sugar it can taste like cardboard and any restaurant that cooks this way will be out of business in a short time.

What else? We call our lovely girlfriend, boyfriend, partner, or spouse “Sweety”, “Honey”… we never call our loved ones “Bitter or Sour”… yes we somehow unconsciously connect with sugar in many positive ways.

Here are some of the benefits of my sugar research.

  • Sugar has calories which give us energy
  • Sugar is necessary food for the brain – the brain cannot function without sugar
  • Sugar releases endorphins into the bloodstream and makes us feel wonderful
  • Sugar changes our emotional state
  • Some foods without sugar taste like cardboard as we just mentioned.

When we have our yearly medical checkup you will notice on the report a section on our blood sugar levels in the body.

I remember a few years ago when I used to run for exercise. Halfway through one of my running routines I suddenly lost all my energy. I think it was due to the blood sugar levels dropping and after some soda drink, I could continue the run.

I can’t imagine my life without sugar – Actually….I would never recommend anyone to totally avoid sugar.

While sugar has so many benefits, what appears to be the problem?

Hmmmmm….

The problem is that because we love sugar so much – we eat more than we need …

The media and health departments are promoting almost daily the benefits of exercise. I love yoga and practice once a day. Now, what would happen if we exercised 6-8 hours a day? I am sure we would create a lot of business for our local Medical Practice.

Sugar can be seen the same way. Sugar is good for us / the excess use of sugar can completely reverse all those wonderful benefits.

In some way, we can say Sugar brings us a lot of happiness. It also brings us health problems that contribute to obesity, diabetes, stroke, and cancer when we take too much, our body is not the shape we wish to have.

My friend Steven, in Australia, is a tall, big handsome guy, he is better looking than me. We share the same hobby enjoying Ben &Jerry’s, chocolate bars, donuts, and cakes, … he uses sugar and sweets as company for his single life at night with his favorite TV show storage wars. Year after year, this friendship grows and grows and his clothing size grows and grows. Time moved on and he feels so comfortable on his own. Until one day, (which I call the action threshold) he realized he could not live this single life forever in this sugar body he created.  Finally, he worked on his body, the food, and the exercise, and as a result, he now has the confidence in his look to go out and socialize and be an attractive man again.

I’m sure before you started reading this article, you already wanted to do something about your health and you might want to complete this article with some decisions, some action steps, right?

In human nature, we all know what we need to do or change, we even know how to change and we want to change. I’m sure there is nothing new for you along these lines. We already know how to cut the sugar in our food. What we need is not about the techniques or the knowledge, what we really need is the motivation and support system, Do you agree?

My job here today is to give you some insight and to help you with a support system and motivation. I have gone through this same process myself; I know it works very, very well.

Imagine how much we enjoy our lives being the sweety the Honey and we don’t need to worry about our sugar levels and physical health. We can experience all these wonderful results with this system.

It is much, much easier than we think and I will now show you how.
