I am from Melbourne, Australia and I arrived here in Vietnam with my wife and daughter 6 months ago. My wife received a working assignment in Vietnam for a two year period. I thought it would be easy to locate work and settle into a senior executive role in a very short time but unfortunately that was not the case.

I was confronted with a completely different cultural lifestyle with challenges around the language barrier, transportation, developing new business and personal networks etc… Due to this I started to lose confidence, focus and energy and found the whole situation overwhelming and paralyzing. My relationship with my wife and daughter was starting to deteriorate as a result of this transitional period.

My future is now looking much more promising as I am starting to benefit from my overseas experience.
