One of the prerequisite to influence another person is we need to build a connection with them…

The deeper that connection, the greater are our chances of being able to influence them…

Just imagine…. you go out on a first date, things go well, you have a good time and at the end of the night you ask your date to marry you….

Besides them laughing out loud at you what do you think they will say?…

More than likely, something like this:

– We only just met…
– I don’t even know you…
– How do I know I can trust you…
– We have no real connection yet…

To be be able to influence another person whether in business or in our personal life we must first build a connection, trust and respect for each other before any Influencing can take place…

We need to develop a relationship first and upon that foundation of connection, trust and respect we now have the foundation to influence our colleague, manager, boss, supplier, customer, spouse, kids to a win / win outcome….
