I walked into the yoga studio 110 kilos, not having exercised for a number of years with a list, as long as your arm, of all my health complaints and symptoms…
I was a heart attack waiting to happen…
I made my way into the yoga room up the back where I thought no one would see me…
They locked the doors, closed the windows and cranked up the heat to 39 degrees…
Holy moly, what have I got myself into…
This is a 90-minute hot yoga class and there is no escape…
It was tough…
I would attempt one posture and then need to lie down and catch my breath before I could continue…
I worked hard, I struggled, I strained, I was dripping wet with sweat…
I spent 80% of the class lying on my yoga mat just trying to survive the class…
At the end of the 90 minutes, I was lying on my yoga mat on my back in a pool of my own sweat when I realized something very alarming…
I lost my hearing…
I couldn’t hear…
There was complete stillness and quiet…
Were my ears blocked with sweat, what has happened?…
I shook my head a few times to help clear the sweat blocking my ears…
It wasn’t sweat!
Then all of a sudden I realized…
I was so focused on performing in this yoga class that my mind switched off, I stopped thinking, and all my worries and concerns about my business and life that were going around in my head disappeared…
There was silence, peace, calmness, and stillness inside my head, a state that I haven’t experienced for a very, very, very long time….
All my worries and problems disappeared and I could just BE…
All those internal voices, finally, shut up…
I was hooked on yoga as it helped me to connect to the rest of my BEING…
I discovered how to just BE…
It was truly Awesome…
I gained a whole bunch of physical benefits as well which was wonderful and the main reason I have continued to practice for 21 years is because of the unity, connection and communication between my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being…
My mind is peaceful and calm, most of the time…
Now, in all my public training and personal coaching session, I have made it my mission to have people reconnect and communicate to themselves on a deeper level and create an abundant fulfilled life..
Yoga is one path to unity and self-awareness that I continue to enjoy and reap the benefits…
