How to shine at work and skyrocket your results is something that most of us would love to achieve yet we may encounter various obstacles that prevent us.

The obstacles we identify could be…

– My manager…
– Other colleagues…
– Company policy…
– Lack of resources…
– Company culture…

These are just a few to what may be an endless list.

In actual fact, the biggest obstacle, that we do have control over, is ourselves.

The above obstacles mentioned are things that we can’t control, they are not in our circle of influence and we have no real direct power over them.

One thing we do have control and power over is ourselves. We have the power to make many decisions in our lives and act upon them.

It reminds me of Don who is a salesman for a Relocation company who relocate families or businesses locally, interstate or internationally.

Don worked for this company which was dealing with its own challenges. There were 5 other sales people on the team.

The 4 other sales people would complain that the manager could not do his job properly, other colleagues didn’t understand the stress of the sales job, the company had many forms they needed to complete, they had a lack of resources, and this was why their sales were down.

Don was different.

Don would arrive to work 45 minutes before everyone else. He would set up his schedule for the day and would line up many appointments. Within 30 minutes of arriving at work Don was already on the phone making his daily 45 calls.

Don didn’t have time for small talk in the office with his colleagues. He was on a mission to get the sale. Don was focusing on solutions, prospects, sales.

When it was time for a coffee or lunch Don would eat and drink with prospects.

Don was using everything within his power, circle of influence, to take action to achieve his sales targets. Don was on the move and there was no stopping him.

Don would work consistently throughout the day with one goal in mind and that was to get the sale.

Don is the top sales producer in his company and he doesn’t see any obstacle that his colleagues see and continues to be empowered to be a high achiever.

When we focus on ourselves, the resources we already have inside of us, and apply them to our career or whatever we are doing, this is how to shine at work and skyrocket our results.

When we focus on the problem all our focus and energy will follow and expand the problem.

When we focus on what we want, the sale, and put all our energy there, that too will expand and we will have more sales.
