If you do not program yourself life will program you.
If you do not program yourself life will program you were the words that rolled off Johnny’s grandfathers lips as he was staring into the distance with a melancholy demeanor.
“What do you mean grandpa?”, said Johnny, who is only 5 years old.
If you don’t program your life life will program you, means we need to take charge of our life and do the things that we want to do, not what others want us to do. It means we must have our own dreams and goals otherwise we become part of someone else’s dreams and goals.
“How do you mean?”, ask Johnny, “I don’t know dreams & goals”.
“Ok, ok” said Grand dad as he sat back in his chair. “Let me give you a real life example”.
Many years ago when I was a young lad, about 18 years old, just out of school I got myself a job. I didn’t like school, so the first opportunity to leave school, I took it.
One of my mates who had already left school told me about a job that was available at his work place. I took it because I had no other job or plan.
I remained there for about 3 years, fell into a groove and just kept working.
Then I heard of another job in a different industry that paid more money so I went there. I remained in that job for about 5 years.
This type of behavior continued throughout my life. Switching jobs every few years as I thought was fit.
I really wanted to build my own business but I was always busy working for other people and didn’t have the time to get started. It was easier for me to just keep working and push my dream aside.
Now I’m 65 years old and already retired and I keep thinking and having regrets that I didn’t get serious about my life. I’m thinking how fast my working life disappeared.
Instead of following my own dreams and goals I became part of many other peoples dreams and goals. I did this at the sacrifice of my own dreams and goals.
When I reflect on my life I can now clearly see that If you do not program yourself life will program you.
I can see that I just fell into other peoples plans and lived many of their dreams and goals instead of my own.
Listen up Johnny…
Listen very carefully…

Make the time to work towards your dreams every day, even if it only a few minutes. I can see now how I wasted a lot of time. Time that I could have used more wisely to build my own business.
Get help if you need it to live your dreams. The pain of not living your dreams is far greater than the effort and pain to take daily action steps towards your dreams and goals.
