Dress for Successful Outcomes.

Dress for successful outcomes was a topic I was about to share with my client on our regular weekly What’s App Video coaching call yesterday. This was part of our 6 months coaching program in stepping out and away from working for an International company and flexing his own Entrepreneurial muscle in a different environment.

Normally I don’t where a jacket during my Coaching Video calls yet for this call I kept my jacket on.

Observing my client I noticed his reaction immediately before he even said a word. “Oh”, he said, “You have an important meeting or client today”.
“Yes”, I responded, “You”.

We both had a chuckle and laugh and completed our morning pleasantries.

Then we spent a few minutes discussing the importance of how we Dress for Successful Outcomes. My client reacted immediately in a positive way when he saw me with my jacket on.

Most of us have heard the saying…”Never judge a book by it’s cover”, Yet we still do…
When we first meet someone it’s only a matter of seconds before we have made a number of judgements…

– Who they are…
– Their position…
– How you will talk with them…
– How you will treat them…
– If you will do business with them…
– How long you will talk with them…
– Will this be a short or long term relationship…

All of this happens in lightning speed in our subconscious mind. It’s too quick a process for the conscious mind to be aware of or fully understand at the time.

The subconscious mind will compute all it sees based on your previous experiences and will answer some or all of the above questions.

My client made another comment.. ”I just remembered the other day I went to a meeting and decided to dress up more than usual and people where looking and responding to me differently”.

Yes, depending on how we show in what we are wearing people will respond differently to us.

What else is interesting is that when we Dress for Successful Outcomes we feel great, important, comfortable and its in this STATE that we can do our best work and perform at higher levels.

Take a moment…close your eyes and think back to a specific time and place (wedding, party, graduation…) where you were dressed up more than usual. See what you see, hear what you hear and feel what you feel.

Yes, I’m sure you have also come up with a few of your own as well.

For my client he had 2 takeaways from our short 10 minute introduction to our 1 hour coaching conversation.

1) People will judge you (Justly or Unjustly) by how you show up in your clothes.
2) When you dress for successful outcomes you are in a STATE to do your best work.

Stack the odds in your favor especially if you are in sales, customer service or if your looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend for that matter.
