Continued from last week’s Blog Post –
I Love Talking Bank Accounts.
Then I spot the number 17D and as I look down at the seats you will never guess who I see…
I see a young girl about 12 years old and her mother sitting next to her. They had only just arrived seconds before me and they jumped up and were looking for some available overhead lockers to put their hand luggage.
The young girl was Nghia and her mom was Phuong. Nghia could speak good enough English to have a conversation. Phuong said she could not speak English or very little yet she could understand when listening.
Now my English is much better than my Vietnamese so it was an interesting conversation.
Actually, seriously, it was a great 90 minutes conversation.
You have to realize there is a difference between speaking a language and communicating a message.
Words are only 7% of our communication and are very important yet 93% of our communication is made up of Body Language and Tonality.
So… using 93%, a few words and some stories and analogies we had a wonderful conversation.
I Love Talking Bank Accounts.
What does all of this have to do with I Love Talking Bank Accounts?
During our conversation I discovered Phuong works as a manager for a bank. Nghia also told me she wants to study in Canada or Australia. She asked me which country would be best? How do you think I replied?
That’s right…
Now…Nghia also said that Dad and Mom don’t have much money and she will apply for a scholarship to study overseas. To get a scholarship she will need to have excellent grades. Nghia will have to work hard.
I asked Nghia does she know about Bank Accounts and she looked at me a little strange and said “Yes”. Mom works at a Bank and deals with bank accounts all the time. Wonderful “I thought”.
She understands you make Deposits and Withdrawals.
We then had a discussion and I mentioned to her, she too, has many bank accounts.
